ABC Garden Summer Series

A six-week program to promote language development, social interaction, self-expression, and early literacy in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Slidell Reads offers most programs and services at low-to-no cost thanks to the support of the community. In-kind and monetary donations help us to help others. Reach out if you'd like to help support our mission.

Each week, participants will engage with the learning environment and their peers in ways that may appear to be fun and games (It will be fun, and there will be games, after all...), but every part of the summer series is designed to further their naturally-developing language skills.

Sprinkled into the mix will be literacy-based activities that support learning sounds, identifying letters, building vocabulary, and even exploring the function of words (like verbs and prepositions).

Parents and caregivers will be learning too! You'll finish this series with a better understanding of how a child develops language, find out how writing and reading work together to advance literacy, and collect a number of reading-inspired activities that can be done at home.

An important aspect of learning is repetition; therefore, a daily rate is not offered. Register for a week at a time, or sign-up for the entire summer. The time and consistency offered to your child will pay off in the long run!
